THE RABBIT AND THE TORTOISE

IN A NEW LOOK!!!

Once in a beautiful lovely wood,
the lived a rabbit calling himself 'Robinhood'.
From day till night he challenged all for a race,
roaming whole day admiring his pace...

Everyday he challenged all,
to defeat him in a race,'Big or Small'.
From downy dove to the bulky bear'
from cunning fox to the merriest mare.

Races he had one,
were not one or two.
counted hundreds,
and with each race his pride soared too.

He tyrannized the whole copse,
he even praised his shoes and socks.
Even the king of the jungle detested him,
But alas, no one could ever match him.

But one day the rabbit,
as usual to his habit,
hopped happily in the plains,
when suddenly a walking stone came in his lane.

He was quite shocked and surprised,
but, 'Thank God' it was just a tortoise.
Rabbit said 'GET ASIDE'
But the torpid tortoise couldn't give him side.

HA!HA!! the rabbit laughed to his heart's content,
when the tortoise was unable to give him way after many attempts ...
and the sound of his roaring laugh,
gathered Horses & Ponies and Cows & Calves.

The proud rabbit challenged in front of all,
can you defeat me in a race,Big or Small ?
the courageous tortoise didn't deny,
and only asked when, where and why?

the confident rabbit was little shattered,
on seeing the courage that tortoise has gathered.
Then said, "Till tomorrow morning take rest,
th race will be from one end to the other end of the forest"

The egoistic rabbit couldn't sleep whole night,
and waited for the morning light.

The next day rabbit came with all arrogance,
th tortoise maintained his decorum
and finally the race had began...

The rabbit ran in no time,
and reached near the finishing line.
He said,"That tortoise would be far behind,
let me rest to freshen my mind."

So the rabbit slept,
and didn't knew that hours had left..
The tortoise passed without any sound,
and the tortoise was still dreaming of applause from all around.

when he woke up he ran to the finishing line,
the tortoise was already standing there
and he was first to touch the line.

the poor rabbit by now had known,
that he had only regret to own
and that day learned  the lesson of life :

HAUGHTY IS ALWAYS LAST IN RACE,
SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE...
